Anna-Karin Karlsson presents Decadence at the V&A shop‏

Avant-garde eyewear designer Anna-Karin Karlsson is delighted to announce the launch of her collection in the V&A Shop at the Victoria and Albert Museum this summer.

Acknowledged as the world’s greatest museum of art and design, the introduction of Anna-Karin Karlsson’s dark and romantic design aesthetic to the V&A Shop comes during the V&A’s landmark exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, and demonstrates the Museum’s commitment to showcasing the work of creative pioneers.

From July 1st until September 27th, the V&A Shop will present the DECADENCE 2015 collection by Anna-Karin Karlsson in its High Arcade display cases. The collection tells you stories of wanton luxury and opulence. Karlsson’s work is characterised by excess and indulgence in pleasure that is here taken even further in the interplay between the morbid and over-refined. Artifice and sophistication are cherished over nature and simplicity - more is definitely always more in the house of Karlsson.
The designer will also be creating two dedicated limited edition styles available exclusively from the V&A Shop. The first model is named “The Queen” - a celebration of both Queen Victoria and Alexander McQueen as well as referencing Karlsson’s own reputation as the queen of sunglasses. The second limited edition model is an ode to Karlsson’s Swedish ancestors who belonged to a tradition of hair jewellery artisans commissioned to create mourning pieces for Queen Victoria. Anna-Karin Karlsson says:
”I am thrilled to be represented at the V&A Shop in the Victoria and Albert Museum and to be a part of this fantastically ambitious fashion project. To show my work during Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and London Fashion Week is a great honour and a major landmark in my career.”
Artists and celebrities including Madonna, Lady Ga-Ga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, Grace Jones and Usher are all ardent fans of Karlsson’s styling, as well as her many true individualist fans around the world. Her creations regularly feature in international style, fashion and design titles, and she is cementing her reputation as the most creative, fashion eyewear designer in the market.
