INIFD present Renuka Malhi AW17 Collection at London Fashion Week

This season the India based Inter-National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) in association with The London School of Trends (LST) presents A Chaotic Romance at London Fashion Week for the Autumn Winter 2017 season with Fashion Scout. One of the designers is Renuka Mahli

“The Princess Overlay" was inspired by both the luxury lifestyle of the Mughal Era of ancient India and one of the seven wonders of the world; The Taj Mahal.
Rich hand embroidered gowns adorned with beads and pearls represent Indian Royalty from past eras who were known for their luxurious dressing.

The intricate craftsmanship in the windows of the Taj Mahal can be seen in the garments through the rich colour palette. Red has been used to symbolise love, passion and sensuality and gold to reflect luxury, grandeur and glamour.

Techniques such as sponge uplift have been used to give extra width to tiered gowns, corsets have been cut and styled using special basting and shaping techniques. Garments are given a current fusion using contemporary silhouettes and sensual necklines giving the modern girl who loves luxury, a look that melds together two different eras.

The concept showcases a contrast between the conservative times of Mughals where Queens who enjoyed luxury were yet not given the liberty to flaunt themselves due to cultural restrictions, but the modern girls takes it from there and drapes herself in the same yet contemporary cuts and stands with her head high revelling in empowerment.

A Chaotic Romance is the result of a competition run by both institutes with over 2000 entries from across 60 premium INIFD Centres in India.
It will showcase the designs of 11 specially selected designers from India who have all been under the creative direction of Joe Toronka.
